Study of Power Devices for Use in Phase-Leg at Cryogenic Temperature

As air traffic has been increasing in recent years, the environmental impact of aviation is more obvious, forcing governments to impose stringent regulations on emissions. In order meet these regulations, and reduce carbon footprint, research directed towards all-electric hybrid aircraft, where use cryogenic HTS machines cables proposed overall size aircraft. With system already place, exploring power electronics at lower temperatures obtain systems with higher densities losses. this paper several semiconductor devices are tested room temperature evaluate their performance temperature. One devices, a “CoolMOS” superjunction MOSFET, used single voltage source phase-leg which experimented its efficiency as primary indication usefulness All-Electric Aircraft.
